what is the law (Iowa) regarding giving out IRA amount and account information to the contigent beneficiary? I am the beneficiary and thought the rights were mine.
It has caused a lot of problems in our family as it was not just information, it was incorrect information!
Thank you for your help!!

Has someone died? If so, why would anyone (primary or contingent beneficiary) need information about an IRA account that doesn't belong to them?

If someone has died, the only person who has the need to know that information is the primary beneficiary. There may be some minor violations of the law, but unless it allowed someone to obtain money or property to which they were not entitled, there are unlikely to be any significant damages worth pursuing.

It's always amazing how well families get along in the aftermath of a death when there is some money or property that has or needs to be divided.
