My daughter died in 1994 and I was devastated for years. I happened to revisit all the sympathy cards given to me and found a letter from my employer regarding the life and accident insurance I am entitled to rec'd. Life insurance was automatically sent to me however I didn't know I can claim for an accident insurance as well upon submitting a death cert and police report. Due to the tragic experienced I never paid attn to the letters being rec'd. It was a coverage I paid for under the company. Is it too late to claim now? Please advise.

Thank you so much
MF

Accidental death benefit is usually an add-on to the regular life policies. The benefits may extend up to a year after the initial accident occurred.
However, the payment of the death benefits totally depends on the issuer of the policy and the terms mentioned on the policy documents.
You can file for a claim with the company. Before that, you can have the contract reviewed by a lawyer who deals in insurance claims. If everything works out fine, you may even be entitled to receive interests on the benefits paid by the accident policy.
