The bank will probably come looking for the money you owe, since they cannot claim anything from a lapsed policy. Because you live on an island, there are few places for you to hide.

You need to contact the bank, let them know what happened. They will most likely require you to apply for a new policy.

The information is the correct way to handle that situation. A person 3 years from now may be searching the internet for that very question and my response possibly answered their question. So to answer your question, YES!
