How to find my life insurance policy?

I’ve had a term life policy for the last 15 years. I purchased it when I would live in Texas. Unfortunately, I lost all the papers including the policy number. So the bottom line is I had no clue which company the policy was actually with. Each month the premium is automatically drawn from my bank a/c. I’m not concerned with the amount since it’s very little. From the transaction statements I came to know about the name of the carrier - Garden State.

In order to track the policy I filed a policy locator but the search went in vain. I received around 20 letters from various insurance companies saying they could not locate any policy in their records with my name.

I would really appreciate if you could guide me on what to do. I think of ceasing the automatic withdrawal if I am not successful. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Your bank should be able to provide you with better information on the recipient of the ACH debits each month.

If you call the insurance company and they cannot find your policy in their files, then file a complaint with the Texas Dept of Insurance asking: How they can debit my bank account each month and not know what policy the premiums are for?
