Can I get a policy when already diagnosed with cancer?

Hello. I'm a 57 year old male and have been dealing with bladder cancer for four years and I've been "clear" for about 2 1/2 - 3 years now. I have recently joined with a significant other and she is twelve years younger than I.

Recently, we discussed a getting a modest life insurance policy "just in case".
I previously had a policy for $10,000 with Aflac, which expired when I lost my job.

My goal is to get a reasonably priced policy for at least $20,000, and not paid much more than $50 a month or so, but I would want her to get the full payout in order to inexpensively deal with my remains, and still have a good amount left over.

Aflac did not ask any questions that made me ineligible, and my question is this - is this something I will be able to do? Will most insurance companies deny me or is this not too much to ask? :)

There are options available for people like yourself but will depend on your state availability. Many companies offer simplified issue final expense whole life insurance plans that can give you some coverage amount options without any sort of waiting period. Now the cost may be close to what your asking but again that will depend on the state you live in.

Normally they may ask if you a few health questions including some about cancer. For example if you were diagnosed or had treatment for cancer in the past 3 - 4 years and if not then you should qualify.. These plans can make a decision without an exam or retrieving full medical records from a doctor.

These type plans are normally sold by an independent insurance agent. If you have further questions I may be of assistance, just email me and may be able to help you.

Thanks much. I'm thinking about calling AFLAC once again but this time I'll read the fine print first.

At age 57, with a current history of cancer (that will still be an issue with most insurance companies until you have been in remission at least five years), you aren't going to find the kind of life insurance you want for $50 per month.

The "final expense" coverage described above will provide the amount of coverage you need, but the cost will be significantly higher than $50. That's because they accept anyone, knowing that they will probably pay claims sooner rather than later. A $25,000 policy should cost about $100 per month, maybe a little more.

At the age of 57 and already diagnosed with cancer, I don't think there is any insurance policy available at $50. If any company will agree to give this policy, they will have their own special norms. May be they take much more money from you as compare to normal.
