Does the lienholder have the same rights as customer on TDI?

The Texas Department of Insurance has a bill of rights. It requires 10-day notice of cancellation on a policy. Does that also apply to the lienholder? Should the lienholder not be notified too since the insurance company does have a financial responsibility to protect the lienholder also. I am asking due to a claim where it was cancelled on 12:01 am and the accident occurred at 1:40 am and the insurance company denies the claim.

The lienholder is not the policyowner, and although he may be interested to know that no insurance will be in force, he is not covered by the Bill of Rights. The insurance company has no contract with the lienholder.

If your policy was cancelled, it was most likely duee to nonpaymment of premium, and your delinquency notice was almost certainly mailed to you ten or more days in advance by the insurance company computer.
