I'd start by maxing out the price of gas at $ 1.49 per gallon.

And I my friend would KISS your feet. Thats the next to biggest expense we have going out every month. I get angry when the price of gas and heating oil take away from necessities.

Wish I or even my husband had that option. The closest thing we have to a bus system is the Indigo bus that comes out to take the Amish to town for a couple bucks..

Well I have the option, but I would have to walk about 15 minutes to the bus stop. Then be on the bus for about 45 minutes. It only takes me 10 minutes to drive to my office.

That kind of really really makes it hard to want to take the bus...but hey 10 minutes probaly wouldn't use much gas anyway right?

You're right the 10 minutes to the office isn't the killer. My wife goes to a massage therapy college across town. It takes about 45 minutes there and back. Right now we only have one car, so I'm taking her until either we get a car for her or she shares a ride with a classmate. For now though, it hurts every couple days when I get gas. I suppose it is an investment for our future.

Really good way to look at it. My hubby travels roughly 40 min to work (he is a coal miner) In a two week period between him going to work and the little other running we do I am safe to say we lay out at least $250...so monthly thats a good $500 gone out the old tailpipe. Guess we just have to deal.

Lori...I have tried this. He was doing exactly that until one day he took the dodge dakota to work and someone smashed out the side window. After that he won't take the Grand Am or the Dakote...only the junker truck (94 chevy s-10). These guys make top dollar at their job but yet still think that they have the right to steal off other employees. Can't even take a wallet to work and leave it in your locker.....
