does alfac ask for a second beneifiary after you've already named one for the reasons in case your beneifiary dies with the policy holder and can delay summiting your your appl. for insurance until they have a secondary and there date of birth

Your application for insurance will not be delayed if you have not named a contingent beneficiary. AFLAC also does not sell life insurance. You may be purchasing a low value accidental death benefit. Those policies are low cost as a reflection of the small number of claims that are paid.
