I was told that I'd be communicated about the date set for my medical test, following my application. Its been a week now and I'm kept wondering. Any idea about how the insurance applications get processed? Is there anything that I should do in order to speed up the process?

Hey!
I'm sure you have successfully submitted your application. Yes, you're quite right that your insurance carrier is supposed to contact you regarding your medical test. There are three options- either this test could be conducted at your home or office, or else it could be done at the place instructed by the carrier. It would not take more than 30 mins and involves checking your BP, urine, blood, weight and height. You may also avail a copy of the test report if you'd opt for it.

My friend..

I think the actual process begins when these test reports and your application are received by your carrier. It is then that the process of underwriting begins. It is through this process that your carrier would come to evaluate and understand the risks associated with covering you. It would then be easier for them to understand whether or not they are gonna approve your desired coverage.
This is the time that your carrier might seek other associated information as well as contact your doctor for different records. This whole process of underwriting would usually take 4-8 weeks.
Thanx,

Hey, I've heard that the insurance companies don't disclose the results of the medical tests conducted for medical underwriting purpose. One uncle got his application for life insurance denied and when we inquired about the reason we were told that it got denied because he has high blood sugar, but we never received the actual test report from the carrier.

You should call your agent and ask him this question. This is his job.

Regardless, the agent calls the exam company and orders the exam. The examiner will then call you to schedule the exam. If you haven't been contacted by the examiner yet, you need to call your agent and let him know.

I recommend that you be patient through this process as it is very common for policies to take 2-3 months to be issued and often much longer.
