I was being specific. I'm getting the run around here too! HOW do I find the Life Insurance Companies name my husband purchessed L. I. on me from??? HOW do I cancell that policy, (we are divorced now)??? WHY is it so difficult to find out if someone has insured you, and has forged your signature??? DEAD people don't tell!

I know for sure he owns L.I. on me, I don't know the name of the company. I just signed everything he asked me to. WHY is the L. I. business so secretive? You can find out all kinds of personal information on people, but, WHY is it so impossiable to find out if someone has purchassed Life Insurance on my LIFE? It does't make since...

There is an epidemic of murder due to the motive of collecting death benifits! I feel the L.I. Companies are enabling the benificaries to get away with murder!

Bobbie Day you can't cancel the policy if you are not the owner of the policy.

Since you are still alive six years after the divorce I seriously doubt your ex-spouse has plans for your demise.

They don't usually wait that long and keep paying premiums.

Your post is a little hysterical. I don't believe... "There is an epidemic of murder due to the motive of collecting death benefits!" After all the first person law enforcement is going to suspect in any murder is going to be someone with a financial motive.

If you are bitter or angry that your ex is the owner and beneficiary of an old policy from when you were married and it just galls your sense of right and wrong that he would collect a nice sum of money if you died there isn't anything you can do about it if you don't own the contract.

If you were a female non-smoker he may very well be stuffing the policy full of cash to take advantage of the low internal cost of insurance and may be using the policy as a cash accumulation vehicle for his own uses later on with the added benefit of knowing if you die he collects.

It's win-win for him.

Come on now Bobby, that's a little over dramatic, they aren't enabling anyone to get away with murder, and the last thing they want to do is pay out ...

Do you not remember the name of the company? Who does he have all his insurance with? You cannot cancel this policy even if you do find it....I'm with Gary if he was gonna bump you off, think it would've happened by now...

Signing the application is the easy part.

For any significant death benefit, the insured, YOU, would have to submit to a paramed exam, answer a multitude of medical questions, give a blood sample, urine specimen, give immediate family history, (mother, father, brother, sister) and produce a driver license for identification. For cases usually starting around the $1 million dollar range, depending on the company, financial information and documentation has to be submitted to justify the high face amount and an inspection report would be ordered and perhaps even a telephone interview.

The point I'm attempting to make here is that your ex-husband couldn't have bought life insurance on your life without a great deal of co-operation from yourself.

Your post could lead the casual reader to conclude that someone can just walk into an insurance office and take out life insurance on anyone at anytime and that simply is NOT the case.

One more thing....there is something called an "Agent Report" submitted with every life application that must be filled out and the agent has to certify that he/she did in fact meet with the insured and personally ask certain gatekeeper questions.

But Gary all this isn't necessary with say 100k or less in most instances....I could say purchase two-five - ten 50k policys without any physical exam etc...right?

Also although I hate to admit it we know there are agents, that are just looking for the commission, and will falsify that agent report...(playing devils advocate, if you couldn't tell)

Yes.

But if the goal was to murder someone for the life insurance it looks very suspious for someone to take out a bunch of small policies to stay under the medical requirement radar.

Yes, there are agents and have been agents who simply look the other way as long as someone is going to pay the premium.

And people have and do attempt to buy life insurance for the purpose of ill-gotten gains.

I've had cases myself where creep parents were wanting to buy $100,000 life insurance on a new born baby yet have no life insurance on their own lives!

I like "devil's advocate" it makes for fun debate with this Internet sport known as message boards!

How come you quit on the Poli-Tic thread?

It's going to become hillaryous in the coming weeks!!!

Biden says Hillary may have been the better pick.

Maybe we get THE referendum NOW rather than 4 years from NOW. :P

Sorry didn't mean to hijack thread.
