Where can I purchase life insurance if...

Hello,

I have been declined by several insurance agents/companies because I am considered a health risk, at least I am assuming this.

I am...

- 48 years old
- Have had open-heart surgery (dbl bypass) in the past year (October 2007)
- Have had High Blood Pressure in the past year (taking prescription drugs)
- Have had High Cholesterol in the past year (taking prescription drugs)
- I MAY be overweight (I'm not really sure, the doctor hasn't really addressed me about this)
- I do have Gastrointestinal problems, mainly acid reflux (taking prescription drugs)

Where can I purchase half-way decent coverage for myself and/or my wife and children that won't deny me because of my health issues?

Thank you,
Dave

Hey ZoneMaster60,

I MAY be overweight (I'm not really sure, the doctor hasn't really addressed me about this)

You know that you can find out whether or not you're obese with the help of the Body Mass Index Calculator.

Its true that your weight plays an important role in determining your life expectancy and hence, overweight may put a question upon your insurability.

An obese person may be at a greater risk of heart decease than an individual with regular body mass index. Hence, the insurer may require the obese person to pay more in terms of premium even for the same level of coverage.

I can help.

even though you have health issues, you still qualify for life insurance.

My primary company will issue you a graded benefit policy which reads like this. year 1 and 2 return of paid premium plus 10% for a death benefit. after 2 years full face amount coverage.

A $10,000 policy would cost 42.79 per month.

Hope this helps

Scott

If you would like coverage from 3-25k let me know. You can get a 25k policy for $67 a month. They don't do a medical you just have to answer 4 questions and it seems like you will pass.

It is very difficult to say without knowing more info on the bypass. My advise is to go to a good independent agent that is good with "Impaired Risk". They will have you fill out an informal application, pull your medical records, and shop your case will all carriers. Because of your young age it may be a very difficult case to place. Another option is to buy a guaranteed issue policy through your employer. Most companies have some type of group benefits plan where you can purchase a life insurance policy through (ask your HR person).
