WHAT TYPE OF INSURANCE SHOULD I GET ON MY 71 Y.O. MOTHER?

by MELANIE9466 » Sat Jan 03, 2009 07:08 am

I AM SURE SHE HAS A POLICY. SHE IS ACTUALLY MY BIOLOGICAL GRANDMOTHER, BUT SHE ADOPTED MY WHEN I WAS 14, SO LEGALLY SHE IS MY MOTHER. I JUST WANT ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE SURE SHE HAS A DECENT BURIAL. MY BIO FATHER PASSED AWAY LAST YEAR, AND WE DID NOT HAVE A POLICY ON HIM, SO MY MOTHER/GRANDMOTHER IS NOW PAYING OUT OF HER POCKET FOR HIS FUNERAL. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WHEN SHE GOES, I CAN PAY OFF MY FATHERS FUNERAL AND BURY HER AS WELL.
SHE ONLY HAS ONE BIOLOGICAL SON LEFT (AND I DON'T KNOW IF HE HAS ANY KIND OF POLICY ON HER - PROBABLY NOT...) SO, I JUST THOUGHT THIS IS SOMETHING I NEED TO CHECK IN TO AND MAKE SOME KIND OF DECISION.
THANK YOU ,
MELANIE MCCORMICK

Hi Melanie, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Often we miss the idea of arranging for our final expenditure, which then becomes a burden on the surviving family members and adds to their difficulties.

How old is your mother? I think that she may qualify for the final expenses insurance or the guaranteed life policy. This kind of plans requires no medical underwriting for the individual to qualify for the coverage. Hence, both the olds and the terminally ills can qualify for these kind of plans.

The death benefits, however, offered by these plans are very limited, but its still a sound investment if you don't want to end up paying for her funeral debts.

I'm sure the other members too will shortly be around with suggestions. We have some experienced agents in this board they might can help you further.

Regards,
Juanita

Hey, if you are only concerned about meeting her burial expenses and don require any death benefits, you can also check out with the burial protection plans.

This plan typically covers the burial expenses. I think that you need to consult some of the local insurance agents to know more about the available options. Good luck with the hunting!!!

Hi Melanie,

There are several options for you to choose from that would help to pay for final expenses and burial for your mother and father.

The average funeral and burial expenses usually run up to $6,500 or more per studies performed by the Funeral Director's Association.

There are plans available that offer people age 78 and under up to $30,000 of simplified life insurance with no medical exam required.

Globe Life is rated A+ Superior by AM Best for financial strength. You can request a free quote online for your mother and father if you choose.

Also, you can visit a life insurance agent in your area to request free life insurance quotes and compare plans.

I wish you and your family the best.

You can get her a 25k policy guaranteed for life for 725 - 881/yr. This is assuming she is in relatively good health. Does she have any medical conditions that you know of? Is she taking any medications?

HADLEY......I'm assuming that Global deals with Term, Whole, UL, etc. Can you give me a 'good' link to find out some information on them? Thanks.

You would be better off getting her a universal life insurance policy than a final expense simplified issue whole life policy, assuming she is insurable and in decent health. For the same amount of premium, you would likely be able to get a higher death benefit and have the benefits fully guaranteed.

NO. State insurance laws generally require the insured to cooperate in the application process by answering health and other related questions, as well as signing the application form, and submitting to blood & urine tests or physical exams when necessary.

Why would you want to keep this a secret from your mother? Afraid she'll carve you out of the will?

Well getting life insurance in this age is not that easy, Peoples with the same age are not physically feet so lots of insurance companies don't offer policies for the same age peoples, but there is also way for those peoples, some insurance companies provide No medical life insurance plan for those peoples who have been dined for the insurance protection.
