Hi Minter, I have removed your phone number from the post to protect your privacy. If the members wish to contact you they would send you private messages.
Regarding the policies of your mother and brother, have they ever mentioned anything of that kind to you?
Regards,

Hi minters,
Did you check in with the Policy locator service offered by the Medical information Bureau? Roddick

When that is an option the success rate with the MIB is very low. Moreover, it would involve fees for the service. I'm not really sure how wise it'd be for her to invest the money when she isn't sure whether any such policies exist or not.
Minters, do you have anyone who was close to your mother, a friend of her or someone in the family. They may help you with certain information. Let us know how the search went. We may then suggest you more avenues to look for the policies.

Well, then that has to be one option if your family members or friends fail to figure it out! Or for that matter if you fail to identify the agent even in the address book.
You'd need to pay for a policy-locator since its a professional service. You could go for it if you're eager but then I guess its cost effective. Roddick

Roddick has a point about how much she should spend (if anything) on this service... however in the off chance that her mother (more than her brother b/c of his legal issues) had a policy she's not even sure she's the beneficiary.
Her mother could've chosen her father as the beneficiary and then that would be the end of that for her...
Sorry we don't seem to be of much help :(

Hi natyb,

Don't you think our job is to provide our friends with options and then leave it to them to decide which way it suits them?

Hi Guys,
I got the following message through an email from the OP:
I do believe you guys got the wrong message i was talking about policies that my mother was not aware of that my dad or someone he knows had or has had at anytime an active policy on my mom and or my brother. I am not even worried about who is beneficiary I am worried about my father lying about having any policies that wre not signed by my mom or my brother. If there was any i can assure you that my brother or my mom never signed or knew they exisisted
It would be good if we can help her with what she needs right now!
Regards,
Lakemen

So she thinks that the father has taken out policies on the mother and the brother and put himself as the beneficiary. But Minters, your father can do that. The laws suggest that one with an insurable interest on others life can actually take out a policy on that person's name. And, we often see parents taking out policies on their kids.
Minters, we would certainly help but you should follow-up with the thread. Let me know if I can be of more help to you.
