I'll be getting married and so I'm a bit worried about how it will affect my insurance benefits.

What benefits? How would it effect them? If it's life insurance, the death benefit still gets paid to whomever the named beneficiary is.

Yes, I'm mostly worried about the beneficiary status. Will my wife automatically become the beneficiary?

Across a majority of states your spouse will be considered as your natural beneficiary. Still I hope it's better that you call them up and change the beneficiary status.

Natural beneficiary or not, the life insurance contract says she's not until you change it. Additionally, if you have retirement accounts like IRAs or a 401k, you'd be well advised to change the beneficiary to your wife on all of that as well. Assuming you want her to receive the funds.

A colleague of mine once said that he had actually changed his renters insurance limits in order to cover his wife's personal belongings. I'd still wonder if people really care to go till that extent!
