Just wanted to drop in a fyi, should I 'disappear' for a few days, we are having the worse ice storm ever (has literally been 'raining'/ icing since last thurs.friday.saturday.sunday.monday.tues. and not sure about today yet!) where I live (northwest MO aka God's country :wink: )..
It looks like a war zone/ghoast town up here with all the power lines down, trees broken everywhere..it's awful..we had a real bad one few years back but this is even worse than that one! I wrote three estimates yesterday in a shop that was totally blacked out used flash lights and headlights from nearby cars...two of them are stranded up in the air on lifts! :lol: gonna have some supplements, but atleast wrote enough to get parts coming when deliveries start up again....
More than 75% of the town I live in (about 80-100K) are without power and have been for 48 hours or so...The Good Lord has smiled on us and we still have power..(we also heat with a wood furnace so should be ok if we do lose it...have a full house of course! ).........

intermittent use due to weather or other atmospheric conditions such as
fog or mist.
Motorists who do not comply with the law could face a fine of $25, but
with fees and other associated costs, the penalty would approach $100.

TRAVELING
New Law Imposes Heavy Fines for Incidents Causing Injury or Death
HARRISBURG - The Department of Transportation is reminding motorists
that under a new state law, they will face severe fines if snow or ice
that falls from their vehicle causes injury or death to other motorists
or pedestrians.
"We've urged motorists to remove all ice and snow from their vehicles
before traveling for years. Not only for their own safety, but for the
safety of all motorists," said PennDOT Secretary Allen D. Biehler, P.E.
"We hope motorists will take this advice all the more seriously now that
the new law is in place."
Enacted in May, Act 37 states that when snow or ice is dislodged or
falls from a moving vehicle and strikes another vehicle or pedestrian
causing death or serious bodily injury, the operator of the vehicle from
which the snow or ice came is subject to a fine of $200 to $1,000 for
each offense.
Both of these laws should be filed under "Duh . . . ."

I think the ice has gotten into my internet connections outside, I am experiencing really slow internet service, anyone else ever have this problem and what did you do with it?

I do personally feel that its the softer media of data transfer which causes distraction for data packets to be conveyed during snowfall rather than the harder media. Why don't you shift a few things here & there to check if the speed is enhanced.

Gaaah! :evil: Those peephole drivers should be pulled over to the side of the road, keys taken out the ignition and then thrown into ten feet snowdrifts (keys and drivers).... EVERYWHERE!!!
What's the point in having practically zero visibility when it would take only minutes to clear the screen properly? Or knock the snow off the roof of the
car? Ridiculous.
They wonder why they get into a wreck when the reality is they couldn't see a thing. :roll: It makes me mad because they put innocent people at risk.
I hope other states follow PA's lead, dreamer, they're bringing in some smart preventative measures there. Good for them! You stay safe too. I hope your power holds out for you.

I'd suggest you check your internet provider's website and see if they have any information about that there. If a lot of users are experiencing the same kind of difficulties as you are, they may well have put the service status on their page to prevent them being overloaded with queries.
If you don't see anything there, look for their Customer Service/Support section. It should have some kind of Contact Us option. I'd suggest you send them a wee message or fill in a support ticket, whatever the choice is, enquiring about the sluggish response time. Some of them offer live chat too so you might even get an immediate answer.
Sometimes all they need do is reboot the server but if they're unaware of the issue, it'll take longer to resolve. If I were you I'd take a moment to drop them a line. It wouldn't do any harm anyway and might speed things along. Nothing to lose that I can see! :)

I live out on a back country road, the road does not get plowed as quickly as the town roads, so it is bad enough trying drive on it anyway besides those people who put everyone else on the road in jeapordy. I get really ticked at these people and think it is a good idea to carry the camera in the glove box so that if one of these drivers do hit you, you can snap a picture to show why.
As far as the internet connection, I am going to pull them all this weekend and blow dry them out and then put them back together, my connection just got slow since the weather came, so hopefully this little bit of maintenance will speed things up. Thanks for all the advice on it though.
I did unhook my router and modem and let it sit for a while to drop the current signal, that did work for a while. Cleaned out the cookies and temp files, and finally defragged. Hopefully with the blow dryer and this action, everything will get back to normal.

always a good idea to have a camera in the car! ALWAYS!Good luck with the computer, mine is running at a snails pace too! Drives me nuts!!!!!!!

I am carrying one of the cheapy disposables, figured something is better than nothing.
My husband is looking at my connections this weekend, hopefully that will do the trick.
