My father was asked to cut a tree and ended up hurting himself. He was put in trama at the hospital. He has to miss work for 5-7 days. Can he sue?

You have not mentioned why he was asked to do that, nor did you mention who asked him to cut the tree. Is that his profession by any chance? A lot of information seems to be missing- please clarify.
