which insurance to take on old home

We have recently bought a house which is pretty old.
What kind of home insurance is suitable for our house? We want to make a lot of repairs also including painting and roofing and installing new heating, air conditioning systems and all. Should we get the insurance before or after the repairs?

Older houses are usually expensive, when it comes to taking an insurance policy on them.
There are insurance policies available for older homes. Depending on the age and condition of the house the premium will be decided.
Contact an insurance agent and he/she will be able to guide you.

I would make the repairs before buying a policy to put the house in a better condition. Insurance companies also ask you to make repairs in order to keep the insurance active, or else the company may deny reimbursing on claims in the future.

A basic fire policy is going to be a condition of borrowing the money to buy the home, so waiting to obtain the insurance later is not an option.

A homeowner's policy known as an HO8 may be needed to cover more than just the risk of fire. Talk to a local agent.

Hi,

I have heard about Chubb. They're pricey, but they're amazingly wonderful when you do have a claim. Another one is State Farm, which is also nice.

A person will discover that the same may be said about almost all insurance companies . . . if the loss is covered.

Most, but not all, claims complaints are the result of insureds who do not understand their coverage.

An agent wil be best qualified to answer these questions. Especially someone who can inspect the home and determine what the proper coverage would be and what would work best for your circumstances.

You have to pay more for such a house, as maintenance will be greater, and if the inspection team not finds your house in good condition, then it will be problem for you.
