I just got engaged and I'm worried about losing my pricey diamond ring. Does my home insurance cover it or should I buy a separate insurance to protect it?

Most probably your ring is covered by your homeowners policy up to some extent but not fully depending on its value.
Firstly you’ll need to get your ring appraised by a certified jeweler. After that depending on its value, you may choose to buy a floater as an add-on to your home insurance, for proper coverage. Or you may even buy a special policy meant for jewelry and valuable movable property.

You can insure diamond ring with the help of "rider" which is an extension for your home owner's policy. Home policy covers your assets but to a certain extent, you have to take additional coverage for pricey objects.
