Will my homeowners insurance cover a leaky drain pipe from a bathtub that causes water damage to the walls?

Depending on your kind of policy you might be covered for it.
If you immediately make a claim upon discovery, the insurance might pay. But if it’s found to have been neglected then, the claim will be denied, no matter what policy you have.

B is right, you need to call up your insurer to know if you'll be covered or not. Only they can judge the situation.

I'd say B hit it. I have a new claim were the person has known for months that the tub leaked. It's just this last time that it was worse. Insurance policies are not there to handle maintenance on a home, they pay for sudden and accidental losses. They also don't address items subject to wear and tear. If a pipe or drain failed due to wear and tear then the pipe itself would probably not be covered. If you knew about the leak and did nothing about it, the resulting water damage might not be covered. I'd say 99% of the people out there take action when they know about a problem. The company I work for insures that remaining 1%.

Water damage claims due to leakage are the most disputed ones. Many providers decline such claims, and others may cover only minimal amounts.

I've known a case, where the water leakage claim was settled by the insurer only to cancel the water damage coverage later.
