pension beneficiary

My father passed away three weeks ago. Back in April, he made a point to let me know that I was the beneficiary on his pension, worth over $200,000. However, he married his new wife in May 2010, so when I called the pension department, they told me that since they were married for more than a year (17 months) that she gets his entire pension because he did not have her sign a "waiver". I'm sure my dad had no idea this was the case and I know in my heart he wanted this money to go to me if anything happened to him. Would I stand a chance at all of contesting this????

The spouse is the primary beneficiary of a pension plan account by law. If your father wanted you to have the money, then the waiver had to be signed by his latest wife.
I don't think it'll benefit you much by contesting it.
