If a homeowner does part of the work when replacing a roof, can they invoice the mortgage company for their portion of the labor/materials?

Yes, mortgage holders are definitely interested in preserving the value of the property. So, you can send them the invoice for the costs of repairing, in case the house gets damaged.

Excuuuuuuuuuuuuse me!

Your mortgage lender is not responsible for the cost to repair or replace a roof. No one can send an invoice to the lender for such things. If the roof needs to be repaired or replaced due to an insured loss, the insurance company may pay the money to the lender so the lender is assured of having the repairs made.

If the lender is holding the insurance company money, that is an entirely different matter. You may have to show proof that repairs are being made. You cannot bill for your own labor to repair the roof to any extent that would be greater than what a professional roofing contractor would charge for the same work. In some cases, you might not be able to bill for "D-I-Y" labor at all. Materials are always a separate issue.

Hi.., Your mortgage lender is not responsible for the cost to repair or replace a roof. I think no one will send the invoice for this. If you want to get repaired or replaced a roof it is better to contact the insurance company for the insured loss.
