Approximately 2 years ago we discovered that our cabin had some storm damage to the roof. The adjuster came out and made a claim. We did not get the full reimbursement as we were waiting to have the roof repair done.
This is a cabin; not our primary residence. It has been difficult to get contractors out and bid this repair.
We now have a couple of bids and want to get this replacement completed.
We found out that in order to be reimbursed as the claim said; it needed to be done within a 1 year time period.
Can we dispute this? We did try to get contractors out without success. We have finally found a contractor to do the replacement.
Thank you.

Sure... you can argue all you want. Have your read the terms of the policy? My guess is that is clearly states in order to be paid replacement cost, the repairs need to be done in one year. You accepted the policy with that agreement.Posted: Wed May 02, 2012 01:41 pm Post Subject:
Tcope is 100% correct. You have waited too long to have coverage extended.
No matter how difficult it might have been to get a contractor out to give you an estimate, you apparently were not concerned enough about the damage to your property to make it a priority.
Besides, in our present economy, contractors all across America are crawling all over each other looking for work (and have been for almost 4 years). It appears that you mostly didn't care that much about the repairs at the time. Could it be important today because you want to sell the place?
