organic asphalt shingles and moderate hail damage

Ok, I don't think I have a leg to stand on but here I go. Last June we had a hail storm (1 - 1 1/2"). We also had a small storm this past May. After the storm in May I noticed my 10 y/o roof not looking so good. After a roofing inspection it was determined I had an asphalt type shingle that was defective from the manufacture. This roofing system has been documented to fail early.

My insurance came by and instantly made the determination that my home was not damaged enough ( screens, gutters, siding) were not damaged enough. Only some pings on the aluminum roof vents. The adjuster told me it was not a claim and he would not persue it.

I want to know if there is a fight to be had here. Could a known, organic asphalt shingle;'s life be prematurely shortened by mild/moderate hail. Could an argument be made that 1 inch hail beat these shingles to the point they need to be replaced.
