Do I need to buy content insurance for items in storage

I have sold off my house and am currently living at a rented apartment. Most of my personal belongings is in storage. I may need around 6 months (or more) to buy a new home and shift there. Till then I won't have any home insurance. Will I need insurance protection to protect the contents during the gap?

If you loose or there is damage to the items, would you pay a premium to have that loss covered. If you want coverage, that is your choice. You need to look into a renters policy as this provides liability coverage as well. If you cause damage to the rental property or hurt someone, your policy would provide protection for this. A renters policy is cheap.

the storage company should offer you insurance on your storage. I would check with them.

Renters policies generally have a care custody and control liability exclusion. That is anything you have care, custody or control over is not covered by the liability coverage.

As always it is best to check policy provisions of your specific policy.
