need to understand..... home insurance, if i was a guest in a home, there was a fire in the home is there coverage for my lost of my belongings?

It depends on the language of the policy, but in all likelihood you will have coverage. The best thing to do is submit a claim to the homeowners carrier and see what they say. Note, the length of your stay might also be important. If you were a longterm gues (ie you were actually residing there) you might have some obstacles with coverage

Do you not have your own homeowner's or renter's policy? If you do, you could make a claim under that policy and let your insurance company subrogate with your friend's/relative's insurance company. You'd have to front your deductible, but your insurer might get it back for you.
