insurance claim

I recently filed an insurance claim for a hot water pipe leak that was inside of my living room wall, anyways I had just installed hardwood floors afer 4 years of purchasing the house. My woodfloors were damaged, I got an insurance check made out to myself and bank of america. Anyways since my husband can replace the woodfloor himself, can we do our own repairs and have him get paid for his labor, instead of paying a contractor. Also the house originally came with a cheap carpet, and I upgraded by installing the floors ourselves. And 4 months ago, I had just done a home loan modification on my mortgage.

You have to go through your insurance documents and check with your insurer, if they are willing to pay your husband for doing the job.

Once the insurance company made a payment it should include for materials and labor, it is really not their concern how the work gets done. Your mortgage company may ask to see invoices but should not give you a problem as long as they can inspect the damaged areas and see that they have been repaired.
