File a complaint with your state's Dept of Insurance alleging unfair claims practices.

You can get another adjuster to look at your claim. You can hire one yourself or call up the claims line and ask them to reassign someone.

Complaining with the State's Dept. of Insurance should be the final alternative.

Not true. Bringing in the Dept of Insurance as early as possible when claims are not being administered properly serves notice on the insurance company to clean up its act. It alerts the Dept of Insurance to potentially larger issues and allows them to react more effectively to protect consumers.

You may want to consider hiring a public adjuster to come out and evaluate your loss. I can not speak for others but our firm never charges for a consultation and if you do decide to hire a public adjuster you should only have to pay a small percentage of your claim proceeds that they assisted in recovering at the time you get paid.
