I dont understand why my insurance company put my son under my policy when i told them he does NOT drive my car, they told me, well i already put in his info and i cant change it now, and theres always a possiblity , what IF he drives it. Shouldnt it be MY choice who i decide to put on my policy not my insurance companies?

Your policy could require that you add all people who have the ability to drive on your policy. Does he have a drivers license? I"m betting he does. As such, why would he have a drivers license if he was not going to drive? The bigger issue is that he _will_ drive your car. When he does and he causes an accident, most states will require that the insurance company extend coverage even though he's not listed and they are not collecting a premium.

Your policy may not require that he be added. You can file a complaint with your states Dept of Ins to find out.

You can also switch carriers.

Most insurers require that you list anyone who lives in your household that has a drivers license, whether they are related to you or not. Even though you say that he won't drive your car, doesn't mean he won't. One day you may be parked behind his car and he needs to go to the grocery store or the gas station and borrows your car for a few minutes, or he moves your car down the driveway to get out. The only way around this, is if your insurance carrier allows you to sign a driver exclusion form. If you sign it, and your son drives your car and gets in an accident, the insurance carrier WILL NOT provide any coverage. I would ask for this option if you can, or call Progressive for a quote.
