Homeowners policies do not cover damages due to a flood, but they do cover other kinds of water damage. For example, they would generally pay for damage from rain coming through a hole in the roof or a broken window if the hole was caused by strong storm winds. Only flood insurance will cover such losses.

Flood is a natural disaster and damages due to flood can be expensive. Home insurers avoid the risk, since too many claims during flood can strain out the insurer.
Well, there is the Federal Flood Insurance program or the NFIP which is offered by FEMA, and it offers enough content coverage for the homeowners.

You should send copy of your article to the likes of Allstate, State Farm, Farmers Insurance, etc. All who have paid out billions and billions to policy holders from natural disasters. I'm sure they would like to know that they don't need to do this.

You may also want to have some proof read "your" article that you linked to. The grammar and spelling is terrible (not to mention the inaccurate information).

If Rachel Diana is a licensed agent, and the best a Canadian outfit like the one she works for can find as a "business analyst" and "content writer", there is little hope left for Canada. After looking at her blog post, I can confirm that she knows almost nothing about insurance or how it works.

Much of what she writes would be labeled as "misrepresentation" in a court of law.
