Usually not, as this is wear/tear and not covered. Usually any resulting water damage may be covered.

No, the resulting hazard is covered by home insurance companies. Try to see multiple quotes or contact some agent.

Makes no sense.
Insurance companies do not cover "hazards", they cover "risk of loss due to perils". Hazards do no cause losses, but they may increase the likelihood or severity of a loss due to a covered peril.
It is sad that a person who claims to be a "proven insurance agent" knowledgeable in world insurance matters has such little demonstrated knowledge.
