I had a number of jewelry items stolen from me over a period of a year by the same person. If he took a ring in July, another in November, a bracelet and earrings in January, and more earrings in March, am I able to make separate claims for each occurence?

I'd say yes as there it's a broken chain of events. Might come down to the policy definition of Occurrence though.

You should have police reports filed for each theft and copies of the same to file for separate claims for each theft.
Alternatively, you can also file a single police report and claim for all the item stolen.
However, the items stolen need to be listed as contents of the home on the HO policy.
Chances are pretty good that your claim would be denied since it’s too late now. You’ll face many questions like why did you make so much delay in reporting.
Even if the jewelries are listed in the policy; you could be questioned since here they would sense the possibility of a potential insurance fraud.

If claimed as separate occurrences, each is subject to a separate deductible, which could negate any claimed loss. Filing multiple claims as you indicate is also likely to result in cancellation or non-renewal of your policy.

Max has raised a very significant issue here. Whatever you do, chances are greater that you won't be gaining anything out of all these (as I said earlier).
