Will homeowners insurance cover vacant house?

My grandfather passed away recently and now his house is lying vacant. We need some time to decide what to do with the property but of course, meanwhile we require insurance for it. Anyone having any idea what type of coverage would be good for a vacant property?

You'd need a dwelling or fire policy but you need to speak to an agent to make sure the policy provided coverage when no one is living in the home.

make sure the policy provided coverage

This usually means obtaining an added "Vacancy Endorsement" at added cost.
