pool damage under my home owners policy

I have an in ground pool, when going to open it up this spring the linear was ripped causing water to leak out. I need a new linear costing $4,800. After the linear was removed the vermiculite base was damage badly and eroded away badly in some spots, due to the leak. The pool guy gave me a quote of $6,000 to install a new vermiculite base. My home owner policy covers "other structures" my deductible is $1,000. My agent said the adjustor probably wouldn't approve the claim, stating the damage probably happened over time and its a maintenance issue. The pool was good last year, we had a horrible winter, and now my pool is costing me over $10,000 to fix. This should be an insurance claim, correct?

Loss would need to be "sudden and accidental". The policy is not design to cover things that simply wear out. You say the pool was fine last year but it appears it may not have been... it just want not leaking.

i understand what you are saying, the pool linear appeared fine but may not have been, but i definitely wasn't ripped no longer holding the water. I was ready to pay out of pocket for the linear, after the linear was removed is when the real damage was uncovered, the entire right side of the vermiculite base is now wore away on the same side as the rip. The other side is still intact. For the base to be fixed properly will cost about $6,000, on top of the $4,000 linear and install. I'm just asking for the likelihood the adjustor will fill my claim, thank you
