My has been leaking for a couple days, didn't know just thought my daughter spilled water on carpet. Right now I'm unsure of the damage it has cause but it's on the second floor. Will the homeowners insurance cover anything?

It does always depend on the policy of insurance as they can all have different coverages and exclusions. That being said, under most policies you would have a valid claim. It is your responsibility to fix the leak and/or protect your property from being further damaged. Upon filing the claim, your insurance company may wish to send a dryout company to prevent any additional damages.
