I'm thinking of buying a new car once my recent one got wrecked. But i'm wondering as to what would happen if I'm stopped on my way back from dealership if I'm asked for a proof of insurance ! Derek Miles

Yeah...you can rest assured that your car might just get impounded on the way if you can't show any proof of insurance. Whether your car is a brand new one or not doesn't really make a difference! Fatman

Hi there, I could only assume that if you're opting for a replacement or additional vehicle then must have got an existing insurance policy already in place! I'd suggest you review the provisions once more. It is sometimes possible to extend this policy for your new vehicle also, may be for a shortlived period. Say it could be for 30 days.
And within this time frame it would be quite possible for you to procure a new policy for your new car or add your new car to your existing policy. what do you think ? Evan T. Smith.

hi!
You may extend coverage under your existing policy. In that case, your current proof of insurance could be regarded as a valid proof for your new car. Before you get out of the dealership its better that you take your insurance card with you. But incase you forget to do that, you may have a copy of it in your new car as well.

hey..why don't you get a binder for the new one?
This would temporarily insure your new car before the actual insurance gets issued. But ofcrs, don't get carried away with it...n make sure that you get the official policy along with the card as soon as possible.
All the best, Bracken-householder
