Ever noticed that big beautiful black lab in the back of the pickup next to you in traffic?
Did you ever wonder what would happen to the dog if suddenly the driver had to slam on his brakes?
Statistics show that out of the over 70 Million dog owners in the U. S., approximately one third of them drive with their dog in or on the vehicle.
Auto insurance companies are beginning to realize this and companies, like Progressive, have added a "Pet Injury" benefit to the Collision coverage in an auto insurance policy.
Do you know anyone who has purchased "Pet Injury" coverage and what do you think about it?

Progressives is free if you have collision coverage (as I understand it) there is NO charge for it..it's just alittle perk.

Yeah, that's the way I understand it. The pet injury coverage will pay up to $500 if a person's dog or cat is injured in a covered auto accident.
I'm wondering if a claim on Fido would affect a person's claims experience rating.

I doubt it unless it was a chargeable accident to begin with... I'm thinking I read that there is a 500 limit for vet bills dogs and cats only and reimbursement (unless the animal dies of course, in which case it is like pet 'life' ins). and of course have to collision coverage...also I believe it covers dogs or cats in the bed of trucks...but a ''collision'' event has to occur...Also don't think that comp loss apply collision only...It's a really neat perk I think...
