Hello to everyone!
Just wanted to introduce myself.
I've worked in underwriting for 2 years. Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving?

Thanks for joining us, Manager. Hope you'd enjoy your stay in this board.
We often encounter issues that may benefit from an underwriter's input. Please, join the discussions of your interest. I'm sure that the community will benefit from your experience and knowledge.

Welcome manager...glad you found us, i agree we could use an underwriters input, we have adjusters, agents, coaches teachers, but don't think we have any underwriters!
My Thanksgiving was great, how about yours?
again, Welcome !

Welcome aboard underwriter!!! Just please don't send my business to the undertaker!
8) What amazes me about the underwriting process is how they catch EVERYTHING all the time. Even the smallest insignificant tiny clerical error that has no bearing on anything they find it    ALL THE TIME.
:) Agents and underwriters are natural enemies and it's actually comical from the insurance companies point of view.
:P On the one hand the company wants the agents to go out and sell their products till there's no one left to sell, then go sell 'em again.
 On the "other side" of the dark side behind closed doors where no agents are "allowed" there's this "other" group. They have BIG magnifing glasses and computer data bases from the time you first broke wind. Inspection, scrutunization, verification and REJECTION are their calling cards. They trust no one but verify all.
:D So while we're out there bringing the bidness in the front door these people do their best to kick it out the back door.
Now, is that anyway to run a bidness?
We need an actuary too.
These are the folks who can tell you that 5% on X plus 5% of X plus 6% for four years is about the same as 7.2% on X from the start.
But 5% on X plus 5% of X is more money to the client if the 7% payout percentage is the same and the income is started immediately. It takes 5 years for 7.2% to exceed 5% on X plus 5% plus 6% if left alone.

8) -- that means gary they are doing their job and doing it well..
:) -- i agree, and yes, it is funny, but an uw can also be an agents best friend too..
 -ha ha... that was a fine piece of work there, i'm still lmao on that one gary.
:D - bet it seems that way...you need to find clients that have perfect health, credit, claims history, driving records, etc...THEN you'll be fine! geeeze dude, get to work
We need an actuary too
we had one of these once, even have a 'tab' for it, frankly that's the part i always zone, (aka sleep) thru at every agents meeting i've ever been to...yawn..Add your comment
