That may well depend on the nature of the felony. If you have been convicted for fraud or theft, the chances are very slim to get a license as an agent.

The Michigan Insurance code prohibits issuing license to an individual convicted of felony. The licensing form requires discloser regarding felonies from the applicant, which you are required to answer truthfully.

Maverick are you sure that it isn't dependent upon the 'type' of felony?

I could find nowhere within the Michigan Insurance code, statutes or other rules that specifically prohibits a convicted felon from keeping or obtaining a license. If convicted, you need the permission of the insurance commissioner to proceed with renewal or initial licensure. If you can cite a specific rule or section of law that you are referring to, please let me know.
