Hi
I am still cherishing a dream to drive my own car when I turn 17 this year. Right now I am residing in a small town at Michigan with my mom. I am pretty much interested to know if my mom's car insurance cost would go up if I acquire my license and be a part of her auto policy !

My understanding is that, mom's insurance cost would certainly rise if your name is included to the policy. But not as much as your separate policy would have.
Your mom can include your name to her car insurance policy as an 'occasional' driver or as a 'pleasure-use only' driver instead of primary driver. Because it is assumed that the primary drivers are going to drive the car more.
