If you live in Virginia and you are jobless and without health insurance, don’t qualify for Medicaid, cannot afford Cobra or your Cobra eligibility has expired, you have several options:

1) Visit the Virginia Health Care Foundation for a number of programs that are designed to help children of parents who are uninsured and adults who are uninsured to receive affordable healthcare at little to no cost. Some of these programs include FAMIS which provides health insurance to children of unemployed parents until they become employed, RxRelief Virginia for prescription medication for uninsured people with long-term disease, and the Patient Advocate Foundation’s Virginia Cares Uninsured Program which assists people who have been diagnosed with life threatening disease and having trouble obtaining healthcare.

I guess all states should encourage such programs for the betterment of our society. It's not that people always lose jobs intentionally, sometimes they lose jobs under circumstances like the present economic downturn.
