The Second World War is a tragedy for the whole world and a reason to think about how fragile and selfish the idea of the superiority of one race over all others is. I spent a lot of time researching the causes and consequences of this war and even found articles on the Italian WW2 melee weapons. However, it is worth noting that I never considered Italians as full-fledged participants in the conflict, although they were allies of the Third Reich.
The fact is that Italy was very weakened by internal conflicts and previous hostilities. That is why there were only medium and light tanks in the tank divisions. Also, the Italians had much fewer anti-aircraft guns, mortars, and explosives than the USSR, Great Britain, and the United States. That is why the Italians could not radically influence the course of the war and were only auxiliary forces for Germany.
At the same time, Benito Mussolini proved himself to be a good strategist and skillful negotiator. However, he was able to get heavy tanks only closer to 1943, which did not affect the war’s outcome. If Italy had more equipment, the war could last longer.
