Can I get my Health and Life Insurance License in California?
I have been convicted of many charges such as DUI, assault wt a deadly, forgery of prescription,possession of controlled substance. And my last charge was a DUI and it was about 2 years ago, so still pretty recent. And if I am eligible any advice on what I need when I go to take the test?

I cannot speak for the Commissioner, but based on what you've admitted here, the same things which would have to be disclosed in your application for a license, you fit into a category of persons who would have to be called to a public hearing before the Commissioner would issue your license. At that hearing, the Commissioner could label you as a person who it "would be against the public interest" to be issued a license.If so labeled, the denial of your application would prevent you from reaplying any time within the next five years. Try living a clean life for the next three to five years before submitting a license application. That would be in your favor, as it would show an attempt to rehabilitate your seemingly persistent bad behavior.
Having said that, Calfornia changed its license process a little over a year ago. Today, a person takes the 32- or 52-hour prelicensing course, takes the exam, and if they pass the exam, then they submit their application for licensing.
You could pay the money to take the exam and see if you can even pass it before you give thought to submitting a license application. It only requires a 60% score to pass. Even so, according the the Dept of Insurance, only about 65% of all first-time exam takers pass the CA exam.
