Could anyone tell me regarding the prescription policy under health insurance? Do I need to buy it separately?

It depends on the policy purchased. But my understanding is that most of the health policies include some type of prescription coverage. Many policies provide the coverage of drugs as part of the deductible and co pay, and some others include coverage as a separate deductible. So proper understanding is required before purchasing a policy. Also you can talk to your agent.

Prescription coverage may not be offered by the insured choice rather it is often decided by the employer. For that you can buy separate prescription insurance. But you need to be careful while adding coverage to a plan. Because it will increase the cost significantly. I doubt whether there are plans available if you need prescriptions regularly.

A prescription plan is not automatically attached to a health insurance policy. Some include them. Some have them as optional riders. Some do not have prescription insurance, but include a network discount. You need to find out which type you have.
