Mobile Home Insurance and the carriers

It seems there are a lot of problems associated with a mobile home, especially when you'd need to move it. Can you provide any information on Mobile Home insurance? If you know it, please let me know about the insurance carriers who'd offer it.

Mobile home coverage is all about the personal liability and the physical damage coverage. I guess separate coverage options are available for rental your mobile homes than those you use for commercial purposes. Likewise you have specific coverage for mobile homes that are your private property or for those which are used seasonally.

Yes, the physical damages could be caused due to fire, storms, hooliganism, robbery or falling objects. Any damages caused to your mobile home or its structures by such natural factors would be covered under the Physical damage coverage. The volume and worth of coverage may differ between policies and that's one good reason why you have to choose your policy very carefully.

Two that come to mind are Foremost Insurance and Assurant Group. Assurant Group has several names under their Assurant Group Umbrella like American Bankers of Florida. Both Foremost and Assurant have websites to check out to see what coverage they offer. Most other carriers won't even touch mobile homes...wheels attached or not and with or without a foundation.

Under circumstances when you're shifting your mobile home from one place to another your regular policy won't cover it. It would also not be covered under your regular flood insurance program. You may apply for the NFIP in case you're in a flood-prone zone.

Hi,

Mobile home insurance would also offer you personal liability coverage. If someone gets injured by you or their property gets damaged by you, then they may file a lawsuit against you.

If you'd obtain additional liability coverage it might just help you under such circumstances. Just think of claims that may include hospitalization charges, loss of wages, physical sufferings as well as damages caused to property. Roddick

Sure it does.

What specifically would not be covered?

Juanita has shared her opinion regarding physical damage coverage up there.
Like in regular home insurance, damages caused by flood don't generally seem to be covered under the physical damage coverage. I didn't come across any clause stating such benefits.

I have a home owners policy which covers the home where I'm staying currently. This is not a mobile home. Do you think this policy will cover a mobile home that's in transit? I don't think so!

Just a question for everyone: I need to move in a few months. I'm moving from an apartment to a Mobile home. I don't own the Mobile home. Someone had recommended Renters Insurance (which, I found out, would be VERY cheap for me.) My Insurance Co recommended a '$20,000 coverage'. I know if I have a fire, etc., the it would be covered under Rental Insurance. What about if someone broke into the trailer and stole something...is THIS covered, as well?

Infact it does cover transit or an option to cover beyond a standard policy

There are a quite a few different options between the two. MH coverage, covers property detached or adjacent to the MH like a garage or car port, and even in some cases the actual property. Your personal belongings and personal liability. But a renters policy is only going to cover structure specific items and has limitations that would be covered under a MH policy.

Maybe I'm not understanding the explanation you're giving. A Renter's Policy DOES cover my personal belongings? Or..just the trailer, property, etc. that I am renting?
