I got a new carpet through a remodeling company and got charged for the carpet, pad and " waste item carpet". They tell me that is for the extra carpet pieces cut out from closets and corners. WHAT. THis does not make sense to me. Anyone out there know more about this?

I'm not sure if this is related to insurance :roll:If you have faced any particular problem in settling the issue with the insurance company then please relate the problem to it. You can get the best answers that way.

I'm afraid that you are required to pay for the entire carpet which unfortunately includes the 'waste item carpet' as well. It's not right but that's the way it is. :(

However, I support what Andrea has mentioned your query has no bearing with insurance. Is your homeowners policy addressing the issue? Please clarify.

It's not an insurance query but it's here....not sure I understand, but think what they are talking about is the 'extra' lengths of carpet that you had to purchase in order to reach these areas you mention...I initally thought it was for disposal but apparently not....why not ask another carpet company if this is standard, of course too late for you this time, but you'll know should you decide to recarpet another room.

fyi, you could drop these un insurance related questions in the 'pub'

That is what it is, just as Lori put it. I recently moved my double-wide to put it on a full foundation and they had to cut the carpet down the middle. Being older carpet it didn't seem back together without a noticable line running through the length of my house. I started getting quotes on carpeting so when I get enough saved I could replace the main area. They charge you for the full length. You could ask them for the extra peices if you wanted. Use them in your vehicle for mats. In your entry way and so forth.
Any more questions...stop in the Pub..hope to see ya there.
