Hi Guest,

I think you might need catering insurance for this reason. Have you contacted an agent yet? You may contact an independent agent since he would be able to help you in shopping for coverage.

Hi guest,

Catering insurance could certainly be an option if you're sure to engage yourself in a catering business. But since the kitchen would be a part of someone's house, you'd need to be careful.

At the same time, you'd need to be protective about the things that you're gonna use inside the kitchen.
Did anyone ask you to consider getting renters insurance?

Sounds like Catering Insurance was really designed for you. It probably includes a range of liability covers as well as material damage for premises, stock and equipment as well as business interuption.

running out of time, live in MN. Can any body point me in the direction of reputable catering liability insurance agents?

Any agent doing business across multiple commercial lines can find coverage for you.

I happen to also have a small catering business, and just recently obtained my liability coverage from The Hartford for less than half of what I paid last year to Scottsdale, including the "export" fee for doing business with a non-admitted insurer -- through the same agency. And I have more total coverage now, too.

But since the kitchen would be a part of someone's house, you'd need to be careful.

Where did that come from? Although true, it wasn't part of the original post, which specifically mentions renting a commercial kitchen. Most jurisdictions do prohibit food prep in a residential kitchen. But there can be exceptions.

And, just like illegal immigration, it goes on all the time.
