How long it will take to be considered a non-smoker after quitting smoking, from the viewpoint of insurance company? Can anyone have any idea?

It is worth to be mentioned that a smoking person can receive an outstanding price on the life insurance policy. As for example a 42 years old male smoker got the standard rates $250,000 for 20 years term life policy.

First of all we appreciate the question. Many insurance companies have changed the term "Smoker or Non-Smoker" to "Tobacco or Non-Tobacco".
The difference here is that now this term may include all tobacco products like, smokeless tobacco, cigars, and even nicotine patches and gum.
Normally when a urine specimen or mouth swab is obtained by an insurance company in connection with a life or health insurance application, the one thing they are looking for is nicotine. If it shows up, you are a tobacco user. Many companies require a period of one to two years without any tobacco use for a person to be considered a non-smoker or non-tobacco user. The best thing to do is to check with your insurance agent to determine his company's requirements.
