A fait settlement can only be decided by you. Its what value you place on the pain and suffering you went through. Not only that there is not much onformation here to go on.

Skooter, what kind of claim is this? There are online resources that you can use as a guide for certain types of claims.
For example, if you are asking about a fair settlement for a totaled car, you can start with kbb.com to get an estimate of the value of car. This is not the final answer, of course, because there are so many factors that go into it; but it is a good starting point.
If you are asking about medical claims, it can get much more complicated.

When you contact legal parties..eighter of the parties need to pay the damages. Fair Settlement is somewhat a private settlement made between the parties over the concerned problem, where Win-win situation for both the parties is created on mutual grounds.

I agree with what you have said regarding mutual agreement. However, its not clear from the OP's post upon which she needs the suggestions. Without details this discussion is going no where. Hence, we all need for the original poster to come back and follow-up with more information.

When you contact legal parties , it would take some time to go throght the procedural formalities. So you may choose to settle the claims without contacting legal parties.
