I'm a contractor in Fl. Someone had called me with an offer regarding inland marine insurance. I'm not sure of whether this is some thing that I may need.

It's the right coverage for your goods (while they're in transit), mobile equipments etc. So, I don't see a reason why they won't be useful for you.

Inland marine policies would cover unforeseen losses pertaining to varying locations. I hope certain properties and transportation equipments are also covered under it.

Please note that a majority of these policies are not filed. It means neither the rates nor the coverage forms get filed with the state dept.

There is no limit to the kind of property that you may cover under an inland marine policy which is not filed.
