Thanks Trench - a few more questions please

Trench, thanks so much for your response.

I am not opposed to being independent as this is the only way I will be able to work because of my circumstances for now. If I only have my Life/Health license, will I be able to get into public adjusting? Or will I need an adjusters license and also get my P&C license? Any tips on how I can get involved in public adjusting? Any notable websites explaining this? Do you advertise your services? Can you give me anything further on this on continuing education, etc., as my skills in the industry are very limited so far. I will be moving to the NE Atlanta area very soon and will need to establish some kind of contacts there. Should I simply do a search for independent adjusters and just start calling them for any overflow that I can help them with?
Any help is very appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I do not advertise, all word of mouth. I do not know if you are required to be licensed in Georgia. I would start with an internet search for independent adjusting and see what comes up. A lot of TPA's advertise for independents, so you just need to find out what kind of work they need. Some of it is just as simple as obtaining a police report, photos, taking statements etc. Small and easy stuff but sometimes if you get a few during the week it can be some good money. Auto damaging appraising does not pay very well, unless you are driving a lot of miles. And depending on who they are they may pay you for mileage and drive time.
